이순주의 그림들은 제목대로 흠에서 시작한다. 흠집투성이 속에서 창의적인 작업을 유도해낸 전시이다. 자신의 직관을 통해 수많은 상처와 흠집이 존재하는 사루비아 벽면에 자신이 경험해온 온갖 에피소드를 담아냈다. 마치 고고학적 탐구자처럼 숨겨진 이미지를 발견하고 이들에게 자신의 의식 속에 잠재된 불확실한 존재들을 이식시켜 제 모습을 찾아준다. 결국 대상과 행위자간의 두 의식의 결합으로 어떤 생명체가 만들어진다. <흠> 전시에서 사루비아 벽면은 다시점으로 활용되었으며, 벽면이 때로는 바다, 땅, 하늘이 되는 '다중적 공간'으로 변모되었다.

Soon Joo YI’s paintings start from scratches. She can recount many stores from the past on the walls of SARUBIA full of scratches and marks. Like an archeologist, she identifies hidden images and restores them with uncertain beings lying in her consciousness. From the combined consciousness of the object and that of the artist, a new organism is created. YI used SARUBIA’s walls to enable multiple points of view, transplanting "multiple places" including the sea, earth and sky.
